{"id":637,"date":"2019-07-12T07:23:50","date_gmt":"2019-07-12T07:23:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inspire-writer.com\/?p=637"},"modified":"2019-08-04T13:56:05","modified_gmt":"2019-08-04T13:56:05","slug":"sheet-list-organize-your-projects-and-texts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inspire-writer.com\/kb\/sheet-list-organize-your-projects-and-texts","title":{"rendered":"Sheet list: organize your projects and texts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When you open Inspire, you can see 3 columns from left to right: <strong><a href=\"\/kb\/library-groups-in-inspire-better-file-management-and-organization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Library &amp; Groups<\/a>, Sheet list,<\/strong> and <a href=\"\/kb\/inspire-markup-syntax\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>the Editor<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sheet list <\/strong>is the column in the middle. It contains a bunch of &#8220;classic documents&#8221;, except that they don&#8217;t require a &#8220;title&#8221; or a &#8220;filename&#8221; or anything as such.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 698px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inspire-writer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/screenshot_2_700.png\" alt=\"Sheet list in Inspire. \" width=\"698\" height=\"408\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sheet list in Inspire.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In other words, you don&#8217;t need to scratch your head to come up with a title before you write. This is how Inspire fastens your writing workflow. On the improving writing efficiency front, every step counts.<\/p>\n<p>Here are what you can do in the sheet list to improve your writing efficiency:<\/p>\n<h2>Change sort order: for better sheet organization<\/h2>\n<p>Here, you can change the sort order of your sheets in a group.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, just select the group you want to sort, and hover your mouse over to the top-right corner of the group, and select one of the options you see here:<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 355px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Snipaste_2019-07-09_00-07-12.png\" alt=\"Change your sheets sort order in Inspire. \" width=\"355\" height=\"147\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Change your sheets sort order.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Searching for keywords: locate your sheet faster<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 247px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Snipaste_2019-07-09_00-47-44.png\" alt=\"Search for keyword\" width=\"247\" height=\"170\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Search for keywords<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>You can also filter your sheets by typing in the keyword in the <strong>Search <\/strong>field, so you&#8217;ll only see sheets with the searched keyword listed.<\/p>\n<h2>Display dates in the sheet list: keep track of the last update<\/h2>\n<p>In Inspire, you can show the dates of a sheet in the sheet list. Such direct access leads to a smoother workflow.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Snipaste_2019-07-09_00-06-45.png\" alt=\"Add a sheet to your Favorite group. \" width=\"330\" height=\"242\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Add a sheet to your Favorite group.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Duplicate: copy your current sheet<\/h2>\n<p>Just as the name entails, by duplicating the selected sheet, you&#8217;ll get an identical copied sheet in the same group. So you can move it around to other groups if you need, without having to manually copy and paste the entire sheet to a new one.<\/p>\n<h2>Split Sheet&#8230;: split a sheet by heading and\/or divider<\/h2>\n<p>If you want to split your long document into shorter, handy chunks, like when you&#8217;re working on large projects such as novels, it&#8217;s done almost immediately on Inspire.<\/p>\n<p>To split your sheet, you can right-click the sheet and click <strong>Split Sheet&#8230;<\/strong>. Then choose how you like the sheet to be divided, and click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 295px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Snipaste_2019-07-09_00-21-15.png\" alt=\"Split your work with long content by headings and\/or divider\" width=\"295\" height=\"350\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Split your work with long content by headings and\/or divider<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There, you now have a group of sheets stored in a new group.<\/p>\n<h2>Merge sheets: join multiple sheets into one<\/h2>\n<p>Inspire aims to let you write whole books, and you&#8217;ll probably need more than one single sheet of content for these. So, merging multiple sheets into a master one for later use is of great help. Here is how you can do it:<\/p>\n<p>Press the <strong>Ctrl <\/strong>key and select the sheets you want to merge<strong>. <\/strong>Right-click the sheets highlighted and click <strong>Merge Sheets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 223px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Snipaste_2019-07-09_00-23-40.png\" alt=\"Merge multiple sheets into one\" width=\"223\" height=\"130\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Merge multiple sheets into one<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There, you have your master sheet created.<\/p>\n<h2>Preview&#8230;: see how your work will look like<\/h2>\n<p>Right-click your sheet and select <strong>Preview&#8230;<\/strong>, you&#8217;ll see how your sheet will look like when it&#8217;s published to the website.<\/p>\n<p>You can also <strong>Preview<\/strong> multiple selected sheets to see how are the sheets doing when merged.<\/p>\n<h2>Export&#8230;: export to a host of standard formats, publish to WordPress or Medium<\/h2>\n<p>When you finish your writing, how do you want the world to see it? Inspire allows you to export your work to numerous standard formats (Text, HTML, DOCX, PDF, etc.). You can also publish your work to <strong><a href=\"\/kb\/publish-to-wordpress-and-or-medium-from-within-inspire\">WordPress<\/a><\/strong> or <strong><a href=\"\/blog\/inspire-2-14-released\">Medium<\/a><\/strong> as well.<\/li>\n<li>Copy to clipboard<\/li>\n<li><strong>Preview&#8230; <\/strong>allows you to see what your exported sheet will look like<\/li>\n<li><strong>Open in&#8230;<\/strong> lets you open your sheet in available applications<\/li>\n<li><strong>Save to&#8230;<\/strong> opens and saves your sheet to your local folder<\/li>\n<li><strong>Publish&#8230; <\/strong>allows you to publish to WordPress and Medium<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cancel<\/strong> if you have second thought about exporting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Export multiple sheets<\/h3>\n<p>You can also export multiple sheets all at once.<\/p>\n<p>When you selected the sheets, all of them will be &#8220;stitched together&#8221;, like a large chunk of content. You then can decide what format you want the merged sheet to be in, just like a regular sheet.<\/p>\n<h2>Move to Trash: move unwanted sheets from the sheet list<\/h2>\n<p>When you move your sheets to the Trash group, they&#8217;ll stay there, until you erase them manually.
